(CAn English-rich Environment
Through the provision of an English-rich environment, we hope to maximize our students’ exposure to the language beyond the classroom and to build up their confidence in the use of English.
1. Display of students’ work
Students’ good pieces of work are displayed in the school.

2. Display boards
Language enrichment boards are set up to display English learning materials to enhance students’ interest in learning English.
3. Campus TV
Programmes on everyday English are produced and shown on Campus TV.
4. Art Fair
Art Fair is held to provide opportunities for students to perform in front of the audience. Through the activities such as singing songs and verse-speaking, students’ self-confidence is enhanced.

5. English Fun Day

On the English Fun day, different activities are held to provide a chance for students to learn English. Students participated actively in Class Quiz, Super Speller and Writing Competition. The Native English Teachers from different Lutheran primary schools introduced Children Literature.

6. English corner
Our NET teacher organizes a diversity of English activities for our students during the recess. Through the interesting games and activities, our students are able to enjoy using English in a fun-filled way.
7. V-Power scheme
Students build up their vocabulary and improve their pronunciation through the V-Power Scheme. With joint efforts from peers, parents and teachers, students expand their vocabulary range and develop their own Word Bank.
 
(DNET Scheme

Hi, my name is Mr. Rich and I am from Birmingham in England. I have actually lived in Hong Kong for twelve years. I have been a NET teacher in Hong Kong for ten years. My wife is from Hong Kong and I have a 5-year-old son called Nathan.

I also have a dog called Dicky. I love living in Hong Kong because there is so much to do, see and eat. I also like the weather because it is too cold for me in England!

I have taught at St. Matthew’s Lutheran School (S.M.P) since 2017 and I teach the Primary Literacy Programme-Reading (PLP-R), oral lessons and enrichment programmes.

I have really enjoyed getting to know all of my students since I came here. I’m always very friendly so please come and say hi!

(E) Primary Literacy Programme-Reading KS1 (PLP-R)

The Primary Literacy Programme- Reading is carried out in J.1 and J.2 classes. The aim of the programme is to enhance the reading proficiency of students through a sustainable literacy programme with a focus on reading which helps to establish basic literacy skills for future learning.

(F) Enrichment Programmes

The school offers two English enrichment programmes for the students to help them make progress in learning English.
1.Interview Class
The Interview Class is a course specially designed to enhance the oral skill of P.6 students. It aims to help students build a solid English foundation and get well prepared for secondary school entry interview as well as future challenges.
2. Accelerated English program
The Accelerated English Program focuses on improving students’ ability to express themselves in English. It offers practice in all skills, particularly in oral presentation and reading.
(G)Grant Scheme on Promoting Effective English

———-Language Learning in Primary School (PEEGS)

A school-based writing curriculum has been developed to refine the writing curriculum

and cater for the needs of students with different English proficiencies.

(N) Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2020-2021
    The missionary team from the USA conducted the programme with our

teachers. Students learnt some Bible stories and religious songs. They also

made crafts and did science experiments.
