（C）An English-rich Environment

Through the provision of an English-rich environment, we hope to maximize our students’ exposure to the language beyond the classroom and to build up their confidence in the use of English.

6. English Fun Day
On the English Fun day, different activities are held to provide a chance for students to learn English. Students participated actively in Class Quiz, Spelling Star Competition and Writing Competition. The Native English Teachers from different Lutheran primary schools introduced some famous people.

（D）NET Scheme

My name is Ms. Kate and I am from Nova Scotia, Canada. I have been a Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) in Hong Kong for the past 16 years.
I live in Sai Kung with my family. I have two boys named Keiler and Ellis, a cat named Frankie and a puppy named Caper. We love living in the countryside but we spend most of our time on the football pitch!
This is my first year at St. Matthew’s Lutheran School (S.M.P.). I teach the Primary Literacy Program – Reading/Writing (PLP–RW), oral lessons and co-curricular activities.
I have had a wonderful first year with the welcoming staff and students and I’m looking forward to another great school year in September!

(E) Primary Literacy Programme-Reading KS1 (PLP-R)

The Primary Literacy Programme- Reading is carried out in J.1 and J.2 classes. The aim of the programme is to enhance the reading proficiency of students through a sustainable literacy programme with a focus on reading which helps to establish basic literacy skills for future learning.

(F) Enrichment Programmes

The school offers two English enrichment programmes for the students to help them make progress in learning English.

1.Interview Class

The Interview Class is a course specially designed to enhance the oral skill of P.6 students. It aims to help students build a solid English foundation and get well prepared for secondary school entry interview as well as future challenges.

2. Accelerated English program

The Accelerated English Program focuses on improving students’ ability to express themselves in English. It offers practice in all skills, particularly in oral presentation and reading.

（G）Grant Scheme on Promoting Effective English ———-Language Learning in Primary School (PEEGS)

A school-based writing curriculum has been developed to refine the writing curriculum and cater for the needs of students with different English proficiencies.

Formative and summative assessments are carried out throughout the school year.

(J)Summer Vacation Bible School (SVBS)

The missionary team from the USA conducted the programme with our teachers. Students learnt some Bible stories and religious songs. They also made crafts and did science experiments.
